We’re excited to share a major milestone for AIR: our newest U.S.-based eVTOL prototype has officially received its FAA Experimental Airworthiness Certificate.
This certification is more than just a regulatory approval. It’s the gateway to advancing our U.S. flight testing program and accelerating the path toward making sustainable, electric flight a reality.
Why This Matters
The certification allows us to expand flight testing at our facility near West Palm Beach, Florida, which is quickly becoming a central hub for our U.S. operations. Here, we’ll validate performance, safety, and real-world operability while also hosting demonstrations for key partners and stakeholders.
This milestone comes at an important time. With the recent U.S. Executive Order promoting eVTOL production, AIR is uniquely positioned to support both civilian mobility and national logistics priorities. From piloted aircraft to uncrewed cargo platforms designed for contested logistics, our eVTOL technology is proving to be one of the most versatile solutions in the market.
What Our Aircraft Can Do
At the heart of AIR’s innovation is a multi-domain eVTOL platform designed for both personal and commercial use.
Piloted two-seater: Perfect for everyday flying.
Uncrewed cargo version: Built for logistics, defense, and humanitarian missions.
With:
1 hour flight time per charge
550 lb (250 kg) payload capacity
Top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h)
Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL)
Our aircraft is redefining what electric aviation can deliver.
Voices from the Team
“The Airworthiness Certificate is a green light for us to expand our U.S. footprint,” said Rani Plaut, CEO and Co-Founder of AIR. “We’re proud to be advancing sustainable flight and shaping the future of mobility.” “Working closely with the FAA has been instrumental,” added Matthew Smith, Director of Airworthiness and Certification. “This collaboration is key to safely integrating electric aviation into the U.S. airspace.”
What’s Next
This achievement builds on a string of recent successes for AIR, including:
Closing a $23M Series A funding round
Establishing a new 32,000 sq ft production facility
Pioneering nighttime BVLOS uncrewed cargo operations
Launching collaboration with the U.S. Air Force’s Agility Prime program
Looking ahead, AIR is preparing to deliver 15 uncrewed cargo eVTOLs in the coming year, while also moving toward fulfilling over 2,500 pre-orders for our piloted AIR ONE.
With the recent FAA MOSAIC ruling expanding certification standards to include eVTOLs, we’re on track to become the first eVTOL OEM to achieve LSA certification.
The Future of Flight
Every milestone brings us closer to our vision: making electric flight accessible for people, businesses, and governments worldwide. With operations expanding in the U.S. and beyond, AIR is proud to be at the forefront of the Advanced Air Mobility revolution.
